In these unusual times, we are looking for help in these areas:
When we get back to normal, we always need help in the following categories:
Do you want to be part of the production but don't want to be in the spotlight? The backstage crew is a small group of highly dedicated individuals who quietly move set pieces, help actors get on stage on time, and work with the Stage Manager to make the technical aspects of every show work perfectly.
Do you play an instrument? Stage 1 Theatre's all-volunteer orchestra is made up of an amazing group of talented musicians who tackle complex scores with ease.
Have a way with words? Like asking for money? Stage 1 is always in need of talented folks who will put their heart and soul into helping the group remain financially viable.
Volunteers are needed to help construct sets under the direction of the production Set Builder. Most volunteer hours for this position are 10am-4pm on weekends. Prior building skills are appreciated, but not necessary. Some tools are available for those who don't have their own.
Costume volunteers work with the Costume Designer building new and altering existing costumes. Help may be needed in the form of sewing, distressing or dyeing fabric, fitting or finishing, or decorating hats and shoes.
A crew of six to eight ushers/ticket takers is coordinated by the House Manager for each performance. Ushers come to the Theatre an hour and fifteen minutes before the show opens and show people to their seats. They are asked to wear a white shirt and black pants or skirt. No previous experience is necessary, however these volunteers should enjoy working with and greeting the public.
Many other volunteer positions are available at Stage 1, including concession sales, special event support, and audition assistance. Please contact us!
Stage 1 is a non-profit, public benefit corporation under the laws of the state of California, and is tax-exempt under section 501(c) of the IRS code. If you are interested in becoming a Friend of Stage 1, or if you would like more information, please send us an email at info@stage1theatre.org.
